Conficker Mad!
Most of the world’s computer security experts had been expecting the worm to again wake up this coming April and have been speculating on what the worm would be doing to all the millions of computers out there that have been infected and have yet to be cleaned. Detection of infection is easy according to the Conficker Workgroup which has a simple test that tries to connect with several of the world’s security spots. The test has six figures all of which should be present if the computer is clean of the said malware.
There are a lot of expectations as to what the worm would be doing but before April 1, they will remain conjecture till it awakens. For sure, it will try to contact it’s makers, to either send or receive information that can alter the worm’s functions. What ever they are going to do, all the rest of us can do would be to wait. This worm has defied all odds and has managed to survive the wild for sometime. Maybe security experts are using it as a test ground but more likely they are after the makers who breathed life to the famed worm whom till today have eluded all efforts to identify and locate them.
