Several web-based programs and applications have dramatically changed the landscape of exchange and delivery of information in today’s aspects of life. Easy access to web sites, increased availability of information, and the richness of web services had increased productivity and had produced efficient operational jobs. Because of these technological advances, people have become reliant and dependent on web-based services and greater use of internal information systems.
While there’s still a huge threat of attackers against a victim’s corporate and though organizational assets remain the same (financial, IP, identity theft, services disruption, or denial of service, for example), web applications enable a whole new class of susceptibilities and exploit techniques such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting (XSS), and cross-site request forgery to mention a few.
